Who does she favor?

From day one of the Little Girl's life, there has been a an 800 pound gorilla in the room asking us the question that parents have been trying to answer about their infants since infants had parents.  I think you know the one.  If you are aware of this blog, you've tried to answer the gorilla.

Who does she look like?

I think that it's hard to compare an infant face to an adult face.  So, I'm providing you with some more relevant documentary evidence for comparison:

Rye tries to eat the phone

We had our second Friday of Daddy/Daughter time yesterday.  Rye is still fighting a cold she got two weeks ago...and I finally succumbed to it about noon on Friday after successfully defending against the first one and giving this one a serious battle.  We're now sharing a saline rinse bottle.

We both felt well enough to swing by my office for a meet and greet, where Rye charmed some co-workers.

When we got home, she tried to eat my phone:

It's time for the Update Lightning Round!

Quite a few things have happened over the last week:

On Friday, I took the first of 12 or so consecutive Fridays off to spend a little more time with Rye.  It was a great day that included a visit to Mom's office.  I'm very much looking forward to this.  On Saturday, we went to our first Music Together class.  It's a bunch of little kids and their parents in a big room clapping, stomping, dancing, drumming, and singing the classics (think, Peas Porridge Hot) and making up songs about coming and going (The Hello Song and the Goodbye Song, respectively).  In other words, it takes a little effort to suppress the urge to sit in the corner and make fun of other parents' dance moves.

Rye met her great uncle John Pilmer (my dad's brother) last Sunday while he was in town briefly.  The meeting went well and John's status as "the cool uncle" is still in tact.

The Little Girl is fighting her second cold.  Her little cough is a heart-breaker and also a sleep-killer (for everyone).

The biggest news is that she figured out how to roll herself over from stomach to back...we have video evidence of this first of many milestones.  See below.

Oh, and Rhoda tried to teach her how to eat rice cereal from a spoon.  It's a work in progress.

...one more thing.  She discovered her foot this weekend...and tried to eat it.

Here are some pictures and a video:

Naked Time

I've learned that when you have an infant, you start to append the word "time" to the child's various activities.  We give her tummy-time to build her core strength.  Sometimes we do "swing time" so dad and mom can have two free hands for a few minutes.  "Bath-time" is self-explanatory.  There's mommy-time, daddy-time, breakfast, lunch and dinner-time (and feeding time in-between).  We have nap-time (times 4) and finally bed-time.

In the following photo montage, I give you "naked-time."  This is done, ostensibly, to fend off diaper rash.  If Rye could give herself diaper rash to get more naked time, I'm pretty sure she would.
