This needs no introduction

I'm slowly morphing into one of those "it seems like yesterday..." people. Not that its a bad thing. It applies. As Rhoda and I were looking at pictures of Rye from her first few days with us last night after watching the Little Girl crawl across the room to get to a duck toy, I started thinking that yesterdays are great and all, but tomorrow could be really special.

Step One: Learn to Crawl

Step Two: Whatever You Want

Oh, and here's what she looked like "yesterday."

Through the Eyes of an Uncle

I am not going to say it's easy to be an uncle. But I will say that I witnessed the flawless execution of that responsibility and calling over the last few days. I know I loved to love my uncles when I was a kid and it looks like Rye's following that trend.

Let's all raise our sippy-cups to Uncle Ali...

Here's Rye through Ali's lens:

And now...Rye looks at Ali through Ali's lens.

Mom Days

I was able to take some days off this week to spend with Rye. Here are some highlights of our time together....

Holiday Weekend

Rye had a few busy days leading up to and including July 4th:

Baby pool action with a new friend...they warmed up to each other as the day went on...

Hiking in Boulder. We're still getting a feel for the small house that doubles as a child-carrying backpack...

A sparsely attended pool & swing party in the Pilmer back-yard (it's hard to keep this kid out of the water):

We made the back-yard bbq scene at Robert and Mary's...where Rye found the hammock:

Rocking out on this musical toy that has given Rhoda and I a new (and in no way pleasant) outlook on contemporary jazz riffs:

We watched as Rye tried (again) to eat a zebra/leopard/rabbit thing:

And when it was all winding down, the Little Girl couldn't stay awake for a quick walk to the grocery store for last night's dinner:

An Outtake I Couldn't Resist

I posted photos of Rye's tooth a week or so ago. The photo below was not among them. But the more I fought the urge, the more compelled I was to post it. So I'm posting it.

It's actually a pretty good shot of the tooth.

Reflections on Father's Day

I've met so many fathers. But Dad's are hard to come by. If I can do half of what my Dad did, I've got this under control.

My Dad and me.
