It's been awhile

I have every intention of maintaining this blog routinely and for the foreseeable future, but I cannot guarantee any particular frequency.  It turns out that caring for an infant (and I suspect raising a child in general) can consume a fair amount of time...turns out it can be resource-consuming as well; the main resource in question being, of course, energy.

Who'd've thought?

We went to the pediatrician yesterday for the first round of sanctioned torture (vaccinations).  It was as advertised.  I do not have words for the intensity with which Rye responded to the shots...let's try this:  it was #@&$ing LOUD AS %!@*!!!  I did not take pictures of it.

In order to try to forget it, I have made this video of Rye "dancing" in her crib.  Enjoy.

And, yes...I'm turning into one of "those parents."  I have video footage of the little girl sleeping.

You Would Never Know

You would never know it took four hours with a photographer, two nursing sessions, a rattle, a warm blanket and several hours of crying to get these photographs...

Bathtime Redemption

Some of you may remember how unimpressed Rye initially was with the idea of a dirt and stink-free existence.  I guess I might feel the same way if I had to shower in the kitchen sink.  At any rate...I think we got it dialed in:

Rye's First Movie Night

A Reality Check from Grandma

Grandma E sent us an email today with a couple of photos of the little girl...one taken shortly after we brought her home (Grandma E has like 400 to choose from...I'd insert one of those winky smiley face emoticon dealies here if I was into that sort of thing) and one that was taken (probably by a proud uncle on his iphone...there is also no shortage of these) about a week ago.

The point of the email was one that we've talked about several times and one you hear over and over again from parents with kids of all ages: they grow up so fast.

I know I'm not seasoned enough to be lamenting with those parents who are getting ready to see their kids off to college again after christmas break, but wow. I already need this to slow down.

See photos for reality check.
